A community message for one of our kids who was away on her birthday.

We are an evolving community of individuals and families who make up the 28 households of Rocky Hill Cohousing.

We are a diverse group committed to a community that balances interdependence and independence; interaction and privacy; and individual and shared resources and skills. We are further united in our dedication to diversity, sustainability, affordability, and accessibility.

We range in age from newborn to 65. Single parent, same sex/not same sex couples, adoptive, multiracial families, range of religions and spiritual practices.

When we are not working on the development of our community, we are artists, musicians, computer consultants, designers, educators, environmental health activists, political activists, potters, researchers, cooks and bakers, therapists, writers, and kids. Our work-based meetings currently outnumber our celebration-focused gatherings as we build our community, but we look forward to the time when that pattern is reversed! Join us.

We assembled an experienced team of professionals to guide us through the planning and building process.

John Ryan of Development Cycles, a long-time resident of Pioneer Valley Cohousing in nearby Amherst and the Project Manager for both Pioneer Valley and Pathways Cohousing served as our project manager.

Our site planner/engineer is Peter Wells of Berkshire Design in Northampton. Peter worked intensively on the Pathways project and is familiar with cohousing values and Northampton regulations. www.berkshiredesign.com

Our builder/developer is Doug Kohl, a well-respected local builder who typically builds higher-end homes but has a personal interest in supporting cohousing and community living.

Our architect is Bruce Coldham, a local architect with 20 years of experience in cohousing. He was the architect for Pine St. Cohousing in Amherst, where he lives, and has traveled the world studying cohousing communities. www.coldhamarchitects.com
